Title: LOVE YOURSELF & RE-ENERGIZE — Part 1

If you tell your team and co-workers to ‘take time off’ or to ‘relax, it will get done’….are you following those words?

Being a leader means being a role model, being always “on stage”, being called upon to do more with less, being responsible for…..well, almost everything. It means “the buck stops here”.

That phrase was popularized by U.S President Harry S Truman. He kept a sign with that phrase on his desk in the Oval Office. He knew that, as a leader, decisions had to be made that were hard and that leaders accepted responsibility for those decisions. Whew! That’s a lot to handle.

Yet, leaders sign up for this. We say, “Give it to me. I’ll take care of it!” Leaders are motivated to step up and lead the charge to get better or be better. NOT because of the glory. But, because it is exciting to get things done through others and to develop people to be the best they can be. Leaders envision where they want to go, and they are anxious to get there.

But, being a leader can be draining. It can be a role that is exhausting, energy-sucking, and mind numbing. Remember, you are a role model. If you tell your team and co-workers to ‘take time off’ or to ‘relax, it will get done’….are you following those words?

People don’t follow what we say. They follow what we do. So, in this month of February, Cupid’s month….let’s talk about loving ourselves as leaders.
