Title: RELENTLESS – Part 1

How do you approach your life? How do you approach your goals? If you are relentless, that means you are persistent and unyielding. It means you see a goal, set your sights on it, and do anything to achieve it.

In Tim Grover’s book Relentless, he talks about moving from good to great to unstoppable. Most of his stories and analogies deal with athletes. But the message can be applied to our daily lives, as well.

The main premise that causes us to think is this: in order to be successful, to have what you really want in life….you must stop waiting to be told what to do. Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, Half-Price Book Store, book clubs, etc. are filled with books telling us what to do. “How to Talk So Your Kids Will Listen”; “How to Lose 20 pounds in 30 Days”; “Ways to Retire at Age 42”…..these all seem interesting, but they are telling us what to do.

Do we really need a book to tell us things we already know? The problem isn’t with knowing what to do. The gap isn’t an absence of ‘smarts’. It’s your (my) commitment. It’s making that decision to pledge to yourself that you will do what is necessary to achieve X goal. We have to see the end result and how it will apply to us (me).

When we set goals, most of us know what we have to do. We have to eat less and exercise more; we have to turn off the TV and really talk/listen to our partner; we have to set aside time to write that novel we’ve been thinking about. The rubber meets the road when we decide to construct our life to get what we want. What is stopping us?
