Title: LEADERSHIP AND GRATITUDE – Part 2

If you truly believe that people do the best they can, imagine how you will lead others! You will be looking for ways to praise people and develop them. You will use mistakes as an opportunity for you to teach, rather than to shoot down and cut your losses. You will see the humor and potential in each situation, rather than viewing them as something that must be endured.

If this is the way you present yourself (and to do this, you must authentically live your life from a position of gratitude), imagine the amount of trust and loyalty you’ll receive from your team and direct reports. And, if that’s not enough to hook you into evaluating your attitude toward people and situations, take a look at these other benefits of living a life of gratitude.

Research tells us that the benefits of living a life of gratitude are:

• Sleeping better
• Increased levels of happiness
• Reduction in anxiety and depression
• Stronger relationships
• Increased resiliency
• Become a better role model

OK, so you’re convinced. In the spirit of self-awareness, you are looking at what kind of an attitude you carry into situations and relationships. So, how do you cultivate and “attitude of gratitude”?

• Take a walk and notice positive, uplifting, beautiful things
• Write a gratitude letter and deliver it in person
• Identify two good things about each situation
• Focus on people’s intentions, instead of actual behavior

Make the decision to practice gratitude and appreciation. Your leadership skills will improve. And, it is November, after all!!!
