There are three responsibilities of strategic leadership: vision, a culture of empowerment and developing commitment. Management consultant Suzanne Murphy says people begin to feel empowered only when they are clear about their responsibilities, when they are held accountable for fulfilling these responsibilities, and when they have the authority and the resources they need to do so. Then they understand that they can, in fact, influence the way the organization conducts business. This seminar will enable HR professionals to implement this in their own organizations.
Bill Gates once said, “As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others. ” The traditional practice of controlling and directing employees is undergoing a huge paradigm shift to coaching, facilitating, and empowering others for success. Why? Motivation by compliance doesn’t work anymore.
In this seminar, participants will learn:
- How to differentiate between commitment and compliance
- Understand how leadership changes to create commitment
- Recognize the four principles of empowerment
- Identify the elements of empowerment
- Create a matrix for identifying what people need in order to be empowered
- Adopt a dialogue to transfer power to others
- Craft a model of situational leadership
Participants will have learned skills and lessons to take back to their own workplace. We have applied for 2.5 hours of strategic recertification credit for this workshop.
